Operating Room Registered Nurse – Travel/Contract
Location: Galloway, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Cardiovascular (CV) experience required, including circulating in vascular/hybrid cases.
- Scrub experience preferred.
- Types of cases: Cardiovascular, Vascular, Cardiac, Thoracic, GYN, General OR, and some Robotics.
- First to float from Mainland to City if needed.
- Staggered 10-hour day shifts (6:30 AM – 5:00 PM and 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM) with on-call and weekend availability.
- Call requirement: Two 48-hour weekends and 14 weekday shifts in 6 weeks. Weeknight call is Monday-Friday 7 PM to 7 AM; weekend call from Saturday 7 AM to Monday 7 AM.
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
- Scrubs provided.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA approved.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA approved.
- NIH Stroke Certification required for RNs in relevant units.
- Pass/Fail “In House Skills Assessment” during orientation; contract may be cancelled if failed.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (except OR nurses).
- Unit-specific competency exams required.
- Core Mandatories/Inservice Training with testing (Parts I, II, III) required annually.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for critical care units (not specifically for OR).
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- E-Verify or attestation confirming work eligibility in the US.
- Background check within 30 days of start, including 7-year search and international search if applicable.
- Education verification (diplomas or official transcripts).
- Physical exam (medical clearance) within 1 year of start.
- Fit mask test within 1 year and updated annually (not required for sterile processing or lab techs).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire updated annually.
- Required vaccinations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start.
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); declinations not accepted except approved medical/religious exemptions.
- Signed HIPAA statement and orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Job description acknowledgement form.
- Emergency contact information.
- Orientation dress code policy review.
- Self-learning orientation and post-assessment test completion prior to start.
- Work history verification covering 2 years related to the position.
- Two current references from supervisors or educators within past 2 years.
- Skills checklist appropriate to assigned unit completed within last 12 months.
- Performance evaluation completed by agency within last 12 months.
Shift Details
- 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (40 hours/week).
- Day shifts primarily from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, alternating with 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
- On-call and weekend availability required as described above.
Additional Notes
- Fingerprinting required only for Behavioral Health units (not applicable here).
- Central Registry Form required only for Behavioral Health units.
- Candidates must include Return to Office (RTO) information with submission.
This position is ideal for RNs with cardiovascular OR experience seeking a 13-week travel contract in New Jersey with a structured schedule and comprehensive credentialing requirements.
