Job Opportunity: Stepdown Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Unit: Stepdown Intermediate Care (22-bed unit)
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 4 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
- Floating: Yes, as needed
- Call: No call required
- Restricted Return to Office (RTO): No early July time off approved
- Charting System: Cerner Powerchart
- Scrub Color: Caribbean Blue
- Locals not accepted; candidate must live at least 50 miles away
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Background and Compliance Requirements
- Background check covering last 7 years and all states lived/worked; must be within 90 days of start and updated annually (except APN)
- Education verification or copy of diploma/transcripts required
- Physical exam required (Aya Physician Statement form)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (2-step PPD or Q-gold accepted; T-spot not accepted)
- TB questionnaire required prior to start and annually thereafter
- Drug screen: Negative 12-panel drug test within 30 days of start, including amphetamines, cannabinoids, MDMA, methamphetamines, buprenorphine, oxycodone, fentanyl, cocaine, methadone, tramadol, benzodiazepines, morphine (or opiates)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start; documentation must be on file by December 15
- Fit mask testing required within 1 year of assignment start (specific mask types accepted); PAPR training available if unable to pass fit test
Additional Requirements
- Facility-specific modules must be completed prior to start (approx. 8-10 hours)
- Clear, passport-style photo with solid background required for badge
- Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure Agreement must be signed before start
- Employment application required for all candidates
