Description
Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each (18:00 - 06:30)
Schedule Details:
- Every 3rd weekend required
- Holidays as assigned
- Call: 3 weekday day shifts per month and 1 weekend call every 12 weeks
Job Description
- Operate Siemens MRI scanners (unit has two 1.5T Siemens Aera scanners)
- Perform neuro, musculoskeletal (MSK), and abdominal scans
- Specialty exams include breast, enterography, and patients with pacemakers
- ICU patients are scanned regularly; MRI-safe ventilator and monitoring equipment available
- No conscious sedation performed
- Use of EPIC EMR system
- Scrub color: charcoal grey
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of MRI technologist experience, including experience within the last year
- At least 2 years of total travel experience as an MRI technologist
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
Eligibility
- Traveler’s permanent address must be more than 100 miles from the facility to apply
Required Certifications & Compliance
- BLS certification (AHA, ARC, or Military accepted; RQI acceptable)
- ARRT or NMTCB certification verification
- State license verification required
- Background check: 7-year history including SS trace, county searches, nationwide criminal search, sex offender search, and sanctions screening
- Negative 9 or 10 panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start (marijuana tested; medical marijuana use not accepted)
- Physical exam within 2 years prior to start, indicating clearance to work
- Respirator fit test documentation within 1 year (if applicable)
- Immunizations and titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination), TB test (2 PPDs, QGold, TSpot, or MTB within 6 months)
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required by December 1 for the flu season
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam within 7 days of signing and within 2 years of start
- Color blindness testing (100% pass required; retesting and approval process if failed)
- Unit-specific competency exams including EKG competency if applicable
Additional Requirements
- Driver’s license/state ID required if job duties include driving
- Completion of facility-specific agreements and policies prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, acceptable use)
- Fingerprinting required onsite or at designated locations before or on the first day of orientation (fingerprint clearance mandatory to report to unit)
Work Environment & Equipment
- MRI safe ventilator and IVAC pumps available
- ICU patients regularly scanned
- No conscious sedation performed
