NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Job Summary
- Provide nursing care for neonates in the NICU, including critically ill newborns and pre-term infants, including extremely low birth weight (ELBW) population.
- Care includes assisted ventilation (high frequency ventilators such as JET and Oscillator, conventional vents, and non-invasive methods like bubble CPAP, RAM cannula, HFNC).
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for newborns, including those with tracheostomies.
- Strong knowledge of developmental care is expected.
- Float between three hospital locations as needed.
Work Schedule
- 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (48 hours/week).
- Shifts alternate between day (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM) and night (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
- Every other weekend required.
- No on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Minnesota
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 2 years of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Required Certifications & Verifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- State RN license verification (NURSYS verification required)
- Background check within 1 year including:
- SSN trace
- 7-year county and nationwide criminal search
- National sex offender registry check
- FACIS level 3
- Education verification (degree and field of study must be documented)
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start (must state “may work without restrictions”)
- Fit testing for N95 mask within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with annual TB questionnaire if past positive)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella immunity documentation (IgG titer or 2 MMR doses)
- Hepatitis B immunity or declination form
- Varicella immunity (IgG titer or 2 vaccine doses)
- Seasonal influenza vaccination or signed declination form (mask required if declined)
- Drug screening within 1 year (minimum 9-panel)
Background and Fingerprinting Requirements (Minnesota Specific)
- Must complete Minnesota DHS NetStudy Questionnaire immediately after contract signing.
- Fingerprinting clearance required before start; candidates cannot begin work with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is approved.
- Fingerprinting must be completed within 2 weeks of registration.
- Candidates must arrange fingerprinting at a Livescan location in Minnesota or out of state (may require travel).
- DHS clearance required for all agency employees with Minnesota licenses issued before 1/1/2018; those licensed after this date may be exempt but must still complete the questionnaire.

- Candidate must be willing to float between multiple hospital locations within the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
- This position requires strong clinical skills in neonatal critical care and ventilator management.
- Compliance with all state and facility-specific health and safety protocols is mandatory.
