Registered Nurse (PCU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Provide direct nursing care in assigned unit, ensuring proper and individualized care for each patient.
  • Analyze patient medical history, diagnostic results, and current condition to develop nursing care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Reconcile medical records for accuracy and compliance.
  • Evaluate patient responses and adjust care plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 1 year of recent (within the last year) experience in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency

Required Documentation & Compliance

Background & Verification

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (for badge issuance)
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, criminal, sex offender, federal court, and education verification
  • Foreign education equivalency evaluation if nursing education was completed outside the U.S.
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of all employment within last 5 years through a third-party vendor
  • Two supervisory references from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam (if applicable) within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test (N95 or approved equivalent) completed within current calendar year and updated annually
  • Proof of adult Tdap vaccine
  • Negative TB test (Qgold/TSPOT) within 6 months or chest X-ray if positive history
  • TB questionnaire within 30 days of start and updated annually
  • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Varicella, and Hepatitis B (titer or vaccination series)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 22 – Feb 27)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo meeting strict guidelines (no selfies, hats, masks, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire)
  • Completion of health history form including any work restrictions
  • Review and sign floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgment forms
  • Completion of onboarding tasks including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start
  • EPIC test completion with passing score required for RNs and allied health professionals (2 attempts allowed, 3rd attempt requires manager approval)

Additional Notes

  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions, to be completed in North Carolina prior to assignment start
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
  • Candidates must comply with all facility and state-specific credentialing and verification processes
  • Orientation and competency testing must be completed timely to maintain assignment eligibility
