Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical Telemetry

Day and night shifts
48 hours per week guaranteed
Weekend hours included (36 hours typical, not necessarily all weekends)
No call requirements

Unit and Patient Care Information

Unit: Medical Telemetry and Intermediate Care (IMC)
Number of beds: 43
Patient ratios:
- Med/Surg Day Shift: 1:4-5
- Med/Surg Night Shift: 1:5-6
- IMC Day and Night: 1:3
Patient types include respiratory, medical telemetry, surgical, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), altered mental status, failure to thrive, respiratory failure, and various acute on chronic medical conditions
Equipment used: ventilators, BiPaP, CPAP, nasal cannula, non-rebreather masks, epidural pumps, IV pumps, specialty beds, PCA pumps, VAC dressings, tracheostomy care and maintenance
Electronic Medical Record system: Epic

Job Responsibilities

Provide nursing care on Medical Telemetry and IMC units
Float between IMC units and med/surg units as needed based on skill and unit needs
Interpret telemetry strips and manage tracheostomies
Use ventilator and respiratory support equipment

Required Qualifications

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maine
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Experience with ventilators and respiratory equipment
Experience managing tracheostomies
