Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - SICU (Travel/Contract)
Location: York, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Job Description
- Position in the Pre-Screen Unit; candidates undergo clinical review for fit and compliance with guidelines before manager interview and final decision.
- May float to all ICU floors.
- Could care for COVID-19 patients.
- Tobacco and fragrance-free facility.
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend.
- Holidays: As needed.
- Call requirements: None.
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), with SICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start, must be finalized prior to start (cannot start with results pending).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending if appointment receipt and attestation are on file, but results must be finalized within 45 days or assignment will be terminated. Fingerprints must be completed in Pennsylvania.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance required and must be on file within 45 days of start; candidate may start with results pending if proof of submission and attestation are on file.
- Education Verification: Highest level of education must be verified (degree, diploma, or transcripts).
- References: Two professional references within the last 3 years required.
- Employment Application: Most recent resume/application required.
- Skills Checklist: Required annually.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Required within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP.
- Fit Mask: N95 fit test record required within 12 months of start and updated annually (approved mask types specified).
- Immunizations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years of start.
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted. For positive TB, negative chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; if negative/equivocal titers, 2 booster doses required 28 days apart before clearance. Candidates born before 1957 are exempt.
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) required, plus signed declination if applicable.
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; same booster rules as above.
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season or valid medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted).
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Required or valid medical/religious exemption/declination accepted.
- Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen required within 1 year of start (requirement applies to agency only, not facility).
- Respiratory Safety Clearance: Required within 1 year of start and renewed annually.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with light background required.
- Acknowledgement Forms: Candidate must review and sign facility-specific documents including Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness, Non-Employee Affidavit, and Hepatitis B Declination.
- Learning Management System (LMS) Modules: Required for RNs; must be completed on PC/laptop prior to start date. New hire orientation must be completed by the end of the first day.
- Pass/Fail Testing: Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of contract signing; remediation and second attempts subject to facility approval.
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract.

- Candidate may be required to float to all ICU floors.
- Facility is tobacco and fragrance-free; candidates should be notified prior to submission.
- Weekend and holiday coverage required as specified.
