Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Midland, Texas
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Start date within 3-4 weeks
- Experience needed in General, Orthopedic, Neuro, Trauma, and ENT surgical areas
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Call required
- Schedule varies weekly with no guaranteed set days
- Block scheduling not approved
- Variable shifts to be discussed during interview (options include 3x12-hour or 4x10-hour shifts with rotating days off and call)
- Typical shift example: Day shift, 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM (3x12 hours), approximately 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience in Orthopedics, Neurology, Trauma, and ENT Surgery
Experience
- General, Orthopedic, Neuro, Trauma, and ENT surgical experience required
- Pediatric experience preferred
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Compliance and Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required
- 10-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, including SSN trace and all locations lived/worked
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Texas Department of Public Safety criminal history search and Employee Misconduct Registry checks required within 30 days of start
- Employment application and 2 references within 3 years required
- Skills checklist and confidentiality/security agreements must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Drug screening required with negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; additional onsite drug screen upon arrival
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
- N95 Fit Test required within 1 year of start (PAPR not accepted)
- TB screening (negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot) required within 12 months of start; chest x-ray if positive
- Immunizations required within 72 hours of contract signing or documented immunity:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination required October 1 - March 31 (masking may be required if declined)

- Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and call requirements
- Orientation and facility-specific documents must be completed prior to start
- No block scheduling allowed; schedule varies weekly
- Variable shifts to be finalized during interview process
This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN comfortable with a flexible schedule and multiple surgical specialties, including trauma and pediatrics.
