ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Wichita Falls, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7 PM to 7 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Start date strongly preferred: June 29
• Scheduled for 84 hours biweekly with a 72-hour guarantee
• Will float to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) as needed, overflow, and Emergency Department (ED) hold, including managing up to 4 patients
• Night shift work only

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
• Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
• Background check within 1 year, including Social Security trace, county searches for last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year, must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
• Immunizations and health screenings (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing unless otherwise noted):

  • TDAP vaccine within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 1 year or chest x-ray within 5 years if positive PPD
  • Rubeola (Measles): 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Mumps: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series of 3, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1 - May 31) or facility-specific medical/religious exemption
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation required
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 1 year, plan for completion within 72 hours of contract signing
• References: 2 references within 3 years of start
• Employment application or resume required
• Annual updates required for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment

Additional Notes

• Candidate must be prepared to complete facility-specific documents such as parking policy acknowledgment and orientation forms prior to start
• Must be able to meet medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Floating responsibilities include PCU, overflow, and ED hold areas with patient load up to 4 patients
