Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - Telemetry

Location

  • Alexandria, Louisiana

Employment Type

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Day shift: 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Full-time
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call duties
  • Floating to other units as needed

Unit & Patient Population

  • Patients with Myocardial Infarction (MI), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Arrhythmias, Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD), and some medical-surgical overflow
  • Unit manages multiple cardiac drips (no nitrates administered)

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio

  • Typically 5:1, occasionally up to 6:1

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
  • Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience within the last year

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid RN license in Louisiana
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • ACLS certification

Skills & Competencies

  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide independent nursing care consistent with ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
  • Perform assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Manage complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Administer medications and treatments per protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, families, and caregivers
  • Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers
  • Demonstrate leadership competencies at various levels (self, others, leaders)
