Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Operating Room (41 ORs), Level 1 Trauma Center
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional float shifts starting at 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and occasional night shifts (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
- Hours per Week: Approximately 36 hours
- Weekend Requirements: As needed per unit needs
- On-Call Requirements: Approximately 6 shifts per 8-week schedule period, as needed
- Float Requirements: Must float within scope to other Operating Rooms in the facility
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Types of Cases: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
- Guaranteed Hours: No
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room experience, including experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Trauma experience
- BLS issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record system
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Identification: Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list, and others as required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
- Education Verification: Third-party verification or transcript/diploma acceptable
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved masks) with annual updates
- Immunizations and titers: TDAP (within 10 years or declination), Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella (with boosters or titers as applicable)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates for positives
- COVID vaccine proof or signed declination
- Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
- Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
- Certifications:
- ACLS may be required depending on unit (confirm with recruiter)
- Competency Exams: Must be current within 1 year and include medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA mandatory training, all with minimum 80% scores
- References: Two references from the last two years required, including one from employment within the last year, from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above
- Employment History: Verification of last 3 years of employment required, with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- State-Specific: Colorado CAPS check results within 60 days of start
Additional Notes
- Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved during the contract, with blackout periods where RTO is not allowed (specific dates in 2026)
- Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions
- Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
- Candidates with employment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet full background and compliance requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma experience who are comfortable with floating within OR units and meeting the specified shift and on-call demands. Prior travel contract experience is required.
