Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Operating Room with 41 ORs, Level 1 Trauma Center
  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional float shifts starting at 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and occasional night shifts (no more than 3 night shifts per contract)
  • Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed (approx. 6 on-call shifts per 8-week period)
  • Float within scope to other Operating Rooms at the facility as needed
  • Case types include General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, and Plastic surgery
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • First-time travelers are not accepted
  • Must have completed at least 3 years of Operating Room experience, including Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
  • Epic electronic health record experience is required
  • No guaranteed hours

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Trauma experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Time Off and Scheduling Notes

  • Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved during the contract
  • RTO not allowed during these blackout periods:
    • June 28 – July 9, 2026
    • September 2 – September 12, 2026
    • October 25 – November 4, 2026
  • Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
  • E-Verify or attestation documentation
  • Proof of legal name change if applicable
  • Background checks within 60 days of start, including:
    • 7-year background check with SSN trace
    • Colorado Statewide CBI check
    • Education verification from accredited nursing schools (CCNE or ACEN)
    • FACIS III or equivalent sanction list checks
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification or transcript/diploma acceptable in lieu
  • NURSYS verification within 60 days of start
  • Colorado CAPS check results within 60 days of start
  • Employment application and work history verification covering last 3 years (gaps >30 days must be explained)
  • Two professional references from the last two years, including one from the last year (must be from Charge RN, Manager, Supervisor, or above)

Certifications and Competencies

  • Annual competency exams required (Core Parts I, II, III, Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, OSHA) with minimum 80% score
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA (not Chiropractor)
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (specific 3M masks required; onsite testing available)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity by titer or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
  • Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam (online testing not accepted for new candidates)
  • COVID-19 vaccination proof or signed declination required

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must complete facility-specific new employee orientation modules within the first two weeks of assignment
  • Candidates with assignment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet all full requirements again
  • No local pay or billing information included per privacy guidelines

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma experience and prior travel contract completion, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
