Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Dallas, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 40
Job Summary
- Position requires working in Interventional Radiology as a Registered Nurse.
- On-call duties are required.
- Scrubs are provided.
- Local rate available within 90 miles.
- Accepts first-time travel nurses.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Required Certifications and Exams
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam and Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for all RNs. Candidates have two attempts to pass each exam.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for Interventional Radiology nursing units; must be completed within 30 days of start and updated annually.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam requires a passing score of 80% or higher; must be completed within 30 days of start.
- NIH Stroke Certification required (valid for two years); may be obtained within 30 days of hire onsite.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit specifics; verify with job description if applicable.
Background and Documentation Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport) matching all documentation.
- E-Verify or attestation required.
- 7-year background check including county criminal background searches for all locations lived/worked in last 7 years.
- Sex offender search and state police investigation required for behavioral health roles.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification required for all RNs.
- Two professional references within the last 3 years required.
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test completed onsite during orientation and updated annually.
- Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold only) within 12 months of start; annual updates required. For positive responders, chest X-ray within 12 months and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Required vaccinations or proof of immunity (titers or vaccine documentation) for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series and positive titer or signed facility-specific declination form)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31). Medical exemptions must be signed by a physician.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug test required within 30 days of start (rapid drug screens not accepted).
Additional Facility Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport style, head and shoulders, clear background).
- Completion of facility-specific forms including job description acknowledgment, internet access form, and security questionnaire prior to start.
- For ER RNs only: 2 hours of Texas Forensic Evidence Collection training required (not applicable for this Interventional Radiology role).
Notes
- Candidates are allowed two attempts for required competency exams; a third attempt may be allowed with client approval based on knowledge gap assessment.
- Certification renewals and exam updates have specific timelines; ensure compliance to maintain eligibility.
- Verify any additional unit-specific requirements with the job description prior to start.
