Description
Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)
Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Total Hours: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Yes (Saturday, Sunday, plus one additional day)
- Guaranteed Hours: Yes
- Start Date: ASAP

Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an MRI Tech
- Siemens MRI equipment experience required
- First-time travel assignments accepted
Licensing & Certifications
- State license pending acceptance allowed
- MRI Tech state license not required
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with unit description)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, including:
- SSN Trace
- Counties Lived/Worked
- Statewide and National Sex Offender checks
- National Criminal, Federal Extended, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 12 months of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- TB screening: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B – positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
- Tdap – highly preferred for certain specialties (not required)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID vaccine series preferred but not required
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% score
- Color blind testing required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024, minimum 80% score
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (exceptions apply)
- Stroke Education (exceptions apply)
- CLABSI Prevention Training (exceptions apply)
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training (exceptions apply)
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education (exceptions apply)
- Pyxis ES MedStation Training (exceptions apply)
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (exceptions apply)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (exceptions apply)
- AME Blood Administration Module (exceptions apply)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for MRI Tech)
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
- Chaperone Policy Training (effective 5/31/2024)
Work History & References
- Must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
- Verification of last 7 years of employment required (attestations not accepted)
- One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU assignments (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
Additional Notes
- Radiation exposure attestation required for MRI Techs and other specified units
- Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval
