Job Opportunity: MRI Tech (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
• Total Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Yes (Saturday, Sunday, plus one additional day)

Required Experience & Skills

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an MRI Tech
• Siemens MRI equipment experience required
• First-time travel assignments accepted

Licensing & Certifications

• State license pending acceptance allowed
• MRI Tech state license not required
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or ARC only
• Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with unit description)

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, including:

  • SSN Trace
  • Counties Lived/Worked
  • Statewide and National Sex Offender checks
  • National Criminal, Federal Extended, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks
• Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
• Education verification of highest level completed
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 12 months of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
• TB screening: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months
• Annual TB questionnaire required
• Immunizations/vaccinations:

  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
  • Hepatitis B – positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
  • Tdap – highly preferred for certain specialties (not required)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID vaccine series preferred but not required

Competency & Training Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months, minimum 85% score
• Color blind testing required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024, minimum 80% score
• Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:

  • Language Services Training
  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (exceptions apply)
  • Stroke Education (exceptions apply)
  • CLABSI Prevention Training (exceptions apply)
  • Preventing Pressure Injury Training (exceptions apply)
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education (exceptions apply)
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Training (exceptions apply)
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (exceptions apply)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (exceptions apply)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (exceptions apply)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for MRI Tech)
  • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (effective 5/31/2024)

Work History & References

• Must provide a 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
• Verification of last 7 years of employment required (attestations not accepted)
• One supervisor reference within the past year required for Cardio Thoracic ICU/CTICU assignments (charge nurse references not accepted)
• Skills checklist required within 12 months of start

Additional Notes

• Radiation exposure attestation required for MRI Techs and other specified units
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval

Requirements/Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience as an MRI Technologist
• MRI Technologist experience within the last year
