Description

Registered Nurse Supervisor (RN SUP)

Location: Fairview, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Facility & Unit Overview

  • Type of Facility: Long-Term Care / Skilled Nursing Facility (LTC/SNF)
  • Total Beds: 300 beds across 6 units
    • Units range from 40 to 59 beds each
    • Includes a secure dementia unit and a currently closed COVID unit
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR): PCC
  • Patient Population: Residents 18+ years, including LTC, skilled, rehab, dementia, and hospice care (2 dedicated hospice rooms)

Role & Responsibilities

  • Serve as building supervisor during evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Oversee floor nursing staff: RNs, LPNs, and CNAs
  • Not assigned direct resident care tasks; functions outside staffing grid
  • Monitor resident condition changes and issues
  • Schedule outside services (labs, portable x-rays, etc.)
  • Contact physicians or nurse practitioners for resident needs/issues after hours
  • Perform specialized nursing tasks only RNs can do: central line care, chest tube management, IV starts, admission orders, fall assessments
  • Participate in care plan meetings primarily for short-term stay residents

Staffing & Scheduling

  • Days: 3 Nurse Managers cover 2 units each Monday-Friday; 1 Nurse Manager oversees all units on weekends
  • Evenings: 1 RN Supervisor plus floor nurses (RN or LPN) on each unit
  • Nights: 1 RN Supervisor as staffing allows, plus 1 floor nurse per unit
  • Shifts: 8.25 hours with 30-minute unpaid lunch
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, with option for more
  • Holiday Requirement: Yes, scheduled 2 weeks in advance, work required if holiday falls on scheduled day
  • No call or standby; scheduled shifts only
  • No floating; position covers entire building
  • Orientation: 3 days specific to unit/department

Required Qualifications

  • Current BLS Certification
  • Prior experience with PCC EMR required
  • Experience measuring wounds (measurement only; staging done by NP)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN)

Clinical & Equipment Information

  • IVs and titratable drips used: Lasix, Bumex, antibiotics
  • No telemetry monitors or respiratory therapists on site
  • Oxygen therapy equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, O2, nebulizers, inhalers, tracheostomy care (no ventilators)
  • Pharmacy available weekdays during business hours; emergency drug closet accessible after hours
  • Medication administration from pill bottles; no automated dispensing system

Additional Information

  • Health items must be collected within 48 hours of assignment
  • Use of facility timeclock and COTA required
  • Lost badge replacement fee applies ($10)
  • Dress code: professional scrubs of any color except camouflage

This position is ideal for an experienced RN supervisor comfortable managing a large LTC/SNF facility during off-peak hours with strong leadership and clinical skills.
