Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Canton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Job Description
- Provide nursing care on a Med/Surg Telemetry unit during night shifts.
- Orientation required (32-40 hours), paid at 50% of base hourly rate.
- Must pass ECG rhythm recognition and SafeMedicate competency exams during orientation.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Minimum of 1.5 years recent Med/Surg Telemetry nursing experience within the last year.
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Required Assessments & Testing
- ECG rhythm recognition test.
- SafeMedicate medication administration exam (90% passing score required).
- Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) completed at orientation.
- Passing scores required: SafeMedicate (90%), ECG interpretation (80%).
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- Comprehensive background check including 7-year FCRA-compliant search.
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to perform job functions.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual updates)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted)
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually.
Orientation & Onboarding
- Completion of online training modules prior to start is mandatory.
- Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Candidates must watch training videos before taking tests.
- Orientation includes competency testing and safety manual acknowledgment.
- Candidates with less than 6 months gap from previous assignment may be exempt from some orientation requirements.
References & Employment History
- Two professional references required from employment within the last year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years of prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
