Description
MRI Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Float tech position rotating between all buildings.
- Shift: Monday-Thursday, 4x10 hour shifts (6:30 AM - 7:30 PM). Hours may vary based on coverage needs.
- Must work holidays if they fall on scheduled shift.
- No on-call required.
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as an MRI Technologist, with experience within the last year.
- Certification/Licenses: ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA or ARC accepted).
Facility Highlights
- Teaching hospital with Magnet designation and Level 1 Trauma center.
- Total staffed beds: 865.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Teal top, black bottom.
- Parking: Paid parking nights and weekends only, one-time $20 parking pass fee.
Work Requirements & Policies
- Radius rule: 60 miles; local candidates accepted case-by-case.
- Guaranteed hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks.
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application and approved based on unit needs.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card required.
- Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps.
- Proof of 2 clinical references required.
- Last 3 clinical employers must be verified through a third-party vendor (attestation letters accepted only if verification attempts exhausted).
- Background check within 1 year including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and other required searches.
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed.
- Color blindness testing required prior to start.
- Competency exams required as applicable.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands, updated annually.
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually.
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required.
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray. Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination).
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, no instant tests accepted.
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season; documentation must be uploaded by deadline.
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form.
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Completion of orientation modules and OurDay platform training required before start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on location.
- Passport-style badge photo required prior to start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire).
- Upload COVID and flu vaccine documentation into facility system.
Additional Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required for this position.
- Radiation badge is not required for MRI Techs.
- IV certification is not applicable for this role.
