Cath Lab Tech – Roanoke, Virginia (Travel/Contract)


Job Details

  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Day shift, 4x10 hours (7:30 AM – 6:00 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40 hours
  • On-Call Requirements:
    • 7 on-call shifts and 5 late shifts every 6 weeks
    • One full weekend of call (Friday through Sunday) scheduled together
    • One Saturday shift for elective cases per 6-week period
    • Must be able to return to hospital within 30 minutes when called
  • Holiday Requirement: Available to work or take call one holiday per 13-week contract
  • Charting System: Epic required
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, if residing 50-99.9 miles from facility (approved for one 13-week contract)
  • First-Time Travelers: Not accepted

Required Qualifications

Licenses & Certifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Virginia
  • Active ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA only)
  • ARRT(R) or CCI RCIS certification required

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year of Cath Lab Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel assignment as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia recognition and interpretation
  • Proficient in hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experienced in diagnostic/interventional cath lab settings using fluoroscopy

Unit & Patient Population

  • Adult patients served
  • 6 procedure rooms with daily census of 15–20 patients
  • Common diagnoses: coronary artery disease, valve disorders, heart failure, atrial septal defect/patent foramen ovale closures
  • Advanced procedures performed: TAVR, left atrial appendage closures, Cardiomems, thrombectomy, mitral clips, renal denervation, research protocols
  • Equipment used includes: IABP, Impella, Penumbra, Rotapro, CSI, Shockwave, laser, OCT, IVUS

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check covering 7 years of residence/employment history (within 1 year of start)
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Education verification of highest earned degree
  • Physical exam within 1 year confirming freedom from communicable diseases
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Fit test within 1 year of start, updated annually (acceptable masks: 1860S, 1860, 1870+, 1804S)
  • Negative TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year, updated annually; if positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunization or positive titer documentation for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
  • Complete employment application/resume
  • Annual skills checklist update required
  • Photo for badge (professional, plain background, no selfies or filters)
  • Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality agreements within 48 hours of signing
  • Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment required prior to start

Additional Notes

  • Facility allows calling off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Radiation badges for new candidates are supplied by the facility, not the agency
  • Candidates must submit all scheduling requests (RTO, block, special) with application
  • Virginia State Police Search completed onsite first day of orientation for applicable candidates

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab Technologists with strong cardiac cath lab procedural skills and certifications, who can commit to a 13-week travel contract with significant on-call responsibilities.
