Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Macon, Georgia


Job Details

  • Position: Registered Nurse – Cath Lab
  • Location: Macon, Georgia
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:30 AM – 4:00 PM)
  • Contract Length: 12 weeks
  • Unit: 3 Cath Labs and 2 EP Labs
  • Call Requirements:
    • 1 weekend per month
    • 1-2 weekdays per week
  • Floating: Within facility scope and to a nearby hospital as needed
  • Weekend: Included in call requirements

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in the specialty
  • First-time travelers are not accepted

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse license in Georgia
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Clinical Screening & Compliance

  • Candidates undergo clinical screening to determine fit and compliance with guidelines before manager approval
  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time
  • Orientation schedule is bi-weekly; non-compliance may delay start by 2 weeks
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days

Holidays

  • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler is expected to work it
  • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler must work both
  • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler must work 2 of them
  • Major holidays include: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day

Required Health & Background Documentation

  • Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start; includes criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more
  • Education Verification: Related degree verification required; can be pending with proof of processing
  • Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
  • Drug Screen: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start; instant drug screen acceptable
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; if past positive, additional documentation required
  • Immunizations/Vaccinations:
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
    • Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu Vaccine or Declination (required during flu season)
    • TDAP: Highly recommended but not required
  • TB Questionnaire: Required annually regardless of TB test results

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry and related units; up to 3 attempts allowed before cancellation
  • Color Blind Testing required; alternative evaluation available if needed

Additional Notes

  • Locals are accepted at the same rate
  • Non-billable orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Candidates must review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
  • References: 2 clinical references required by the staffing agency (not by client)
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required; can be pending with proof of processing

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs who have prior travel experience and meet all clinical and compliance requirements.
