Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Aurora, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Unit: Operating Room (41 ORs), Level 1 Trauma Center
• Shift: 12-hour day shifts starting at 6:45 AM, with occasional floats to 8:45 AM, 10:45 AM, and up to 3 night shifts per contract
• Weekend and on-call shifts required as needed (approx. 3 on-call shifts per 8-week period)
• Float within scope to other Operating Rooms in the facility
• Patient ratio: 1:1
• Case types: General, GU/GYN, Neuro, ENT, Plastic Surgery
• No guaranteed hours
• First-time travelers are not accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• Experience working with Level 1 Trauma or Level 2 Trauma patients
• Epic electronic health record experience
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Other specialty certifications as applicable (verify with recruiter)

Experience Requirements

• Prior travel experience required (one completed travel assignment)
• No first-time travelers accepted

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
• E-Verify or attestation
• Proof of legal name change if applicable
• Background checks including:

  • 7-year background check (including SSN trace, state and federal checks)
  • Education verification from accredited nursing schools (CCNE or ACEN)
• Employment history verification for the last 3 years (gaps >30 days must be explained)
• Two professional references from the last two years (one from the last year), from charge RN, manager, or supervisor level
• Colorado CAPS check within 60 days of start
• NURSYS verification for RN license within 60 days of start

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start and annually (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
• Immunizations/vaccinations or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or signed declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (including QGold/TSpot or True 2-Step PPD)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity by titer or vaccination
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
  • COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually (specific drug panel required)
• Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam (online testing not accepted for new candidates)

Competency Requirements (must be current within 1 year)

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (if applicable)
• Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III)
• OSHA mandatory training exam

Additional Notes

• Return to Office (RTO) days capped at 10 days maximum; no RTO allowed during specified blackout periods in 2026
• Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
• Candidates with assignment gaps of 15+ days are considered new and must meet all full requirements again

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma center experience and proficiency in Epic, seeking a 13-week travel assignment in a Level 1 Trauma Center setting.
