Medical Physicist Travel/Contract Position

Location: Fort Collins, Colorado
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM (typical hours 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Ensure safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy to patients.
• Collaborate with radiation oncologists, dosimetrists, and radiation therapists to design and implement treatment plans.
• Calibrate, maintain, and perform quality assurance (QA) testing on radiation treatment equipment.
• Support treatment plan development, review, and approval, ensuring accuracy and compliance with clinical protocols.
• Supervise special procedures such as SRS/SBRT and brachytherapy.
• Participate in professional development, clinical projects, and quality/process improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in Medical Physics, Physics, Radiation Biology, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Medical Physicist, including experience within the last year.
• Experience with Aria v15+ and Eclipse v15+ software.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
• Demonstrated physicist experience in radiation oncology or related clinical settings.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years of specialty experience post-residency.
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met.
• No prior travel experience required.

Work Environment & Requirements

• Average daily patient census: 130-150.
• No weekend or on-call requirements.
• No floating between units.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back).
• E-Verify or attestation.
• Legal proof of name change if applicable.
• 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification, and other federal/state screenings.
• Education verification or transcript/diploma.
• Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA.
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (specific mask types required).
• Required immunizations and titers: TDAP, TB test or chest X-ray, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, COVID vaccine or declination.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start, updated annually.
• Ishihara color blindness exam (online testing not accepted).
• Annual competency exams and mandatory OSHA training.
• Colorado CAPS check results within 60 days of start.
• References: 2 from the last 2 years, including one from the last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor.
• Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days.

Certifications

• ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, and other certifications are not required for this specialty unless otherwise specified by the facility.

Additional Notes

• Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment.
• Candidates must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of start to avoid clearance issues.
