Description

OT Home Health – Travel/Contract Position

Location: Largo, Florida
Contract Length: 20 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (5 days/week, 40 hours/week)


Job Description

  • Provide adult occupational therapy services in a home health setting.
  • Skilled home care patients include med/surg, cardiac, ortho, post-surgical, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, CVA, Parkinson’s, neuro, trauma, amputees (AKA, BKA), respiratory patients, and others.
  • Perform evaluations and treatments including activities of daily living (ADLs), cardiac rehab, edema massage, feeding techniques, splinting, TENS, ultrasound, orthopedics, prosthetics/orthotics, joint mobilization, home exercise programs, lifting and transfer, patient/family education, safety and injury prevention, and telephone follow-ups.
  • Use standardized assessment and evaluation tools.
  • Complete billing and documentation.
  • Conduct 6-8 home skilled visits per day (minimum 6 points per day, adjustable by manager).
  • Visits and hours are self-scheduled based on office needs.
  • Use laptop, MiFi for internet access, and portable printers for documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Occupational Therapist license in Florida
  • Occupational Therapist with a minimum of 1 year of experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in a Home Health setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Experience with cardiac rehab, edema massage, splinting, TENS, ultrasound, and prosthetics/orthotics

Certifications & Competencies

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or RQI accepted.
  • Competency exams as applicable to profession, including medication/pharmacology competency.
  • Relias Color Blind Exam required prior to start.
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (verify during onboarding).

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date.
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 10 weeks of start; if prior positive PPD, chest X-ray within past year plus completed TB questionnaire required.
  • Annual TB questionnaire required in lieu of annual TB test.
  • Required immunizations or titers: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination).
  • Standard 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination with mask requirement.
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption required.
  • Respirator medical clearance annually if respirator use is required.

Background & Compliance

  • Background check within 1 year of start, including 7-year history and various federal/state checks.
  • Education verification required; foreign-educated candidates must provide a foreign equivalency evaluation.
  • AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting).
  • Two professional references from the past 2 years required.
  • Employment application and skills checklist must be submitted.
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, personal/auto insurance, dress code and tobacco policy acknowledgment, and other compliance forms required.
  • Completion of mandatory online training modules prior to start (approx. 4-8 hours).

Additional Information

  • Scrubs: Any solid color scrub allowed.
  • Candidates must be able to self-schedule visits and manage their daily workload.
  • Laptop and portable technology provided for documentation and communication.
