Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Tech

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
  • Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
  • On-call: 1 night per week (3:30 PM – 7:00 AM) and 1 weekend per month, totaling up to 64 on-call hours per month (subject to change)
  • Float requirements: Yes
  • Holiday time off requests during specified holidays will not be accommodated (holidays include Valentine's Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Day, and several local breaks). Holiday time off may be discussed onsite after arrival.

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – must be current and uploaded as actual certificate (no screenshots/photos)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – current and actual certificate required
  • CCI RCIS (Cardiovascular Credentialing International Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification required
  • Valid state license for Cath Lab Tech (must be current, verifiable, and uploaded within 30 days of start)
  • Color vision test (must be current and in color)

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
  • Recent Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
  • Current BLS certification
  • Current ACLS certification
  • CCI certification
  • RCIS certification

Background & Screening Requirements

  • Comprehensive background check covering 7 years, including SSN trace with complete address history, national and state sex offender registries, criminal searches, abuse registries, and federal databases
  • Background checks must be completed within 45 days of assignment start and updated annually
  • Alias Name Attestation required if candidate has used any other names
  • Drug screening with specific panel including amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, opiates, and others; MRO signature required
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, signed by MD, DO, NP, APRN, or PA (not chiropractor) confirming fitness for duty
  • Negative TB test (QGold or Skin Test) within 1 year of start; chest x-ray and questionnaire required if prior positive
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccine (declinations not accepted; exemptions require documentation)
  • Flu vaccine required for starts on or after 9/8/2025 with medical or religious exemption process available
  • Two supervisory references from employers within the last 3 years required
  • Employment application must include 7-year work history with no unexplained gaps over 30 days, active nursing license details (if applicable)

Competency & Skills Requirements

  • Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III) with minimum 80% pass rate, updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for RNs (not required for L&D, Psych, LTC, Mother-Baby/Couplet Care, Transitional Care)
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
  • Color Blind Testing (online) required within 12 months prior to start, must score 100%
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually and dated within the last year

Additional Notes

  • Bi-weekly orientation provided
  • Solid background, passport-style photo required for badge (no filters or facial piercings)
  • Utility bill or lease/mortgage statement required to verify address at least 75 miles from contracted facility
  • Onboarding documents and attestations must be reviewed and completed prior to start
  • Travelers requesting time off during holidays will generally not be accommodated

This position requires a highly qualified Cath Lab Tech with current certifications, thorough background screening, and flexibility for on-call and float duties. The role offers a 13-week travel contract in Knoxville, TN, with day shifts and some on-call responsibilities.
