Registered Nurse - PCU (Night Shift) - Fayetteville, North Carolina
Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 19:00 - 7:00)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: 1:4-5
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Must float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
- Block Scheduling: Open to accommodating block scheduling
- Travel Pairs: Not accepted
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius restriction)
- Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
- Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Background and Health Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable; convictions within last year or active cases disqualify
- Education Verification: Required and must be related to specialty; diploma or transcript may be required if verification is not possible
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (specific substances tested include amphetamines, methamphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene, marijuana)
- TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual renewal required
- Vaccinations and Titers:
- TDAP vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or borderline
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions must be approved by facility; flu season runs August 1 to March 31
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts are guaranteed after that

- Required Forms: Must complete and sign various facility-specific documents prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, emergency contact form, job description acknowledgment, and others
- Orientation: Typically a full day on Monday; report time 6:30 AM; parking instructions provided
