Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry
Location: Kingsport, Tennessee
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (18:30 – 7:00)
- Schedule: 36 hours per week (36/36 schedule), every other weekend off, no call required
- Patient Ratio: 1:7
- Float requirement: Must be willing to float to other units including Ortho, Spine, Med/Surg
- Orientation: 16 hours of non-billable orientation starting on Sundays (online CBLs on first day)
- Additional Info: Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes; overtime shifts may be flexed accordingly
- Nursing student support and clinical education participation expected alongside clinical duties
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Tennessee
- Minimum of 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years, completed within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed or working in Tennessee
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug test within 14 days prior to start
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) titers or vaccination documentation
- Varicella titer or vaccination documentation
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (must comply with CDC facial hair guidelines)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date (not required annually)
- Photo for badge within 48 hours of contract signing (must meet facility standards)
- Completion of facility-specific forms including dress code, smoking/tobacco use policy, contaminated sharps exposure statement, influenza policy, and respirator medical evaluation questionnaire within specified timeframes
Additional Notes
- General orientation includes online and in-person components
- Candidate must be prepared for floating to various units within the hospital system
- Participation in clinical education for nursing students is part of the role
- Facility may adjust shifts based on census without financial penalty
- Strict compliance with all health, safety, and credentialing requirements is mandatory
