Job Opportunity: Certified Respiratory Therapist (NICU) - Travel/Contract

Location: Conway, Arkansas
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 3 shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Travel Requirement: Must be within 100 miles of the facility
Weekend Work: Required

Job Description

• Provide respiratory therapy services primarily in NICU, with rotations through ICU, COVID units, ER, general floors, and nursery.
• Responsibilities include ventilator management, oxygen therapy, airway management, respiratory treatments, suctioning, arterial blood gases (ABGs), and EKGs.
• Support high-risk deliveries including stabilization and short-term ventilator support for neonates (typically less than 24 hours).
• Use of specialized neonatal respiratory equipment such as RAM cannula, Vapotherm, and heated nasal cannulas.
• Scrub color: Ceil blue and/or black.

Required Qualifications

• Certified Respiratory Therapist with at least 1 year of NICU experience, including experience within the last year.
• Pediatric Respiratory Therapist experience.
• Experience in an acute care setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bedside Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) experience.
• Bronchoscopy experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications (AHA).
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Experience in nursery care, including level 2 nursery and high-risk deliveries.

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually.
• Up-to-date immunizations or titers for Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B.
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (October 1 – March 31); religious and medical exemptions accepted.
• COVID-19 vaccination or declination accepted.
• 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start.
• Physical exam verifying ability to meet job demands, updated annually.
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG.
• Proof of 2 clinical references.
• Completion of required facility-specific forms (e.g., TB screening, Hepatitis B, disclosure agreements).

Additional Information

• Candidates must pass competency exams including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG as applicable.
• Orientation and safety manual acknowledgment required.
• Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during work hours.
• Performance evaluations required if previously employed with the facility for over 1 year.
