Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • 3 shifts of 12 hours each (36 hours per week)
  • Rotating Day/Night shifts:
    • Night: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
    • Day: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
  • Shifts may vary to meet operational needs
  • Must work at least every other holiday

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Ohio
  • CVICU (1.5 years of experience)
  • CVICU experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid Ohio RN license or compact state license in hand
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Orientation and Testing

  • ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam required during orientation
  • Passing scores required:
    • SafeMedicate: 90%
    • ECG interpretation: 80%
  • Prep materials provided before testing
  • Retake opportunities and remediation available if needed

Required Documentation and Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check including:
    • FCRA compliant 7-year search
    • SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification
  • Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 48 hours of contract signing, valid within 12 months and updated annually
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, confirming ability to safely perform job functions
  • Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+), valid within 12 months and updated annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or chest X-ray and questionnaire if past positive)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination accepted with agency-approved exemptions
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if needed
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation required annually (no declinations accepted)
  • Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
  • Eye exam (Snellen), valid within 1 year

References and Work History

  • Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director)
  • Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar specialty area

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
  • Photo for badge (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
  • Must comply with facility policies and complete all required onboarding steps before starting assignment

This position is ideal for experienced CVICU nurses with recent specialty experience and the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts in a high-acuity critical care environment.
