Description

Job Opportunity: X-Ray Tech (Radiology / Cardiology)

Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Night shift, Sunday through Thursday, 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM (5x8 hours)
  • Schedule: Works every other weekend (6 weekends over 3 months) with ability to pick up extra shifts
  • Float: May be required to float to a nearby campus as needed
  • Facility Type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center with 426 staffed beds
  • Charting System: EPIC
  • Scrub Color: Navy blue
  • Parking: Free parking available

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Radiology Technologist license in Connecticut
  • ARRT (Radiologic Technologist) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience as an X-Ray Technician
  • Experience working in an Acute Care setting

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID matching legal name for identity verification
  • 7-year criminal background check completed within 12 months prior to start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • Counties Lived/Worked
    • Statewide and National Criminal Checks
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • Federal Extended Checks
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Foreign Equivalency Education Evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates
  • Verification of highest level of education required (official transcripts may be requested)
  • Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for X-Ray Techs and related units

Certifications & Training Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - may be required depending on unit
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred for trauma/ER settings
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024; must score 80% or higher)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
  • EPIC testing or training (optional but highly encouraged for those with EPIC experience)
  • Various facility-specific training modules and attestations, including but not limited to:
    • Stroke Education
    • CLABSI Prevention
    • Preventing Pressure Injury
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen
    • Pyxis ES MedStation
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability
    • Patient Bedside Rounding
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
    • Blood Administration Module (annual update required)
    • New Employee Orientation
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module
    • Chaperone Policy Training
    • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (specific acceptable tests detailed)
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or proof of immunity required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
    • Varicella
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not required

  • Must be able to start any Monday between June 29 and July 20
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
