Job Details

Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be valid at start
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or Military only; must be valid at start
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification – Must be updated annually; required for ICU and related units
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Must pass with 80% or higher within 3 attempts; remediation required if failed first attempt
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually; minimum 80% score required; cancellation if failed after 3 attempts
Licensure
- Must hold a valid Registered Nurse license for North Carolina
- License must be current and not expiring the month of start (renew prior to start if expiring)
Background and Health Requirements
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable; convictions within last year or active cases disqualify
- Education Verification: Required and must be related to specialty; high school verification not accepted
- Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days; instant drug screens not accepted
- TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual renewal required
- Immunizations:
- TDAP within last 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
- Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-approved forms; must be current for flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

- EKG Exam: Must pass EKG competency exam with no exceptions
- Interview Availability: Must provide upon submission
- Scheduling: Open to block scheduling accommodations
- Call: No on-call requirement
- Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; all contracted shifts guaranteed after that
