Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) - Inpatient Rehab

Location: Cape Vincent, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (8 hours per day)
Work Schedule: Per diem as services are needed

Job Description

• Assess and treat individuals with speech, language, voice, and fluency disorders
• Plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative programs
• Recommend and assist in obtaining additional necessary services
• May perform special education assessments and present findings to a Committee on Special Education
• May select and recommend alternative communication systems and teach their use
• May conduct research related to speech and language problems and present results

Required Qualifications

• Valid degree in Speech-Language Pathology
• Current New York State licensure for Speech-Language Pathologists
• Background check and fingerprinting required before starting work
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start date
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray (Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD) within 12 months prior to start
• Annual TB questionnaire completion required
• Vaccination documentation or titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination for 2025-26
• COVID-19 vaccine booster preferred but not required
• Drug test (9 panel) within 1 year of start date
• Two professional references required

Additional Requirements

• Competency exam required for all candidates
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for RNs only (not applicable here)
• New York State Criminal Background Check Fingerprinting required (completed onsite)
• Background check covering last 7 years of locations lived/worked/schooled, updated annually
• Fingerprinting process and documentation must be completed as per state requirements

• This is a per diem position with no guaranteed hours; services are provided as needed
• The hiring process involves a state-run bid system that may take 7-14 business days after bid closing to determine candidate consideration
