Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lansing, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Float between Labor & Delivery (L&D), Mother Baby, and Obstetric Special Care units as needed
- Night shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Weekend requirement: Work 3 weekends per 4-week schedule (may be 1, 2, or all 3 weekend days)
- Guaranteed hours:
- 36 hours for 3 twelve-hour shifts
- 48 hours for 4 twelve-hour shifts
- 40 hours for shifts under 12 hours (8 or 10-hour shifts)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system

- Labor & Delivery: 12 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms, 3 Operating Rooms, 6 OB triage beds, 8 OB Special Care beds
- Mother Baby Center: 34 rooms providing postpartum and newborn care; Baby Friendly recognized
- Staffing model follows AWHONN guidelines
- Facility is a regional referral center for high-risk obstetric care

Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, education verification, and others as applicable
- Drug screening: 10-panel with THC within 30 days of start (medical marijuana cards or dilute screens not accepted)
- Physical exam within 12 months, including latex sensitivity noted
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documented immunity:
- Tdap (within 10 years or declination)
- MMR (2 vaccines or immunity titers)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or immunity titers)
- Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire annually
- N95 fit test within 12 months, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Facility-specific modules completed onsite at orientation
- Required to submit Return to Office (RTO) documentation at profile submission; no approval after contract signing

- Current resume with at least 7 years of work history
- Skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Michigan Workforce Fingerprinting required only for specific locations (not applicable here unless specified)
Notes
- On-call shifts are not required
- Locals accepted; no local radius restrictions

This position is ideal for experienced Labor & Delivery RNs with prior travel experience seeking a night shift travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching hospital environment with a focus on maternal and newborn care.
