Oncology Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Oncology
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:15 AM – 6:45 PM)
- Average Daily Census: 24 patients (24 rooms/beds)
- Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level I Trauma Center, Magnet designated
- Total Staffed Beds: 562
- Charting System: Cerner
- Scrub Color: Any solid color
- Parking: Permit required, no cost
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Minimum 1 year of oncology nursing experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Chemotherapy administration skills including continuous infusion and IV push
- Management and disposal of cytotoxic spills
- Accessing ports
- Administration and knowledge of antifungals and antivirals
- Central line blood draw and PICC line care
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by an MD, NP, PA, or equivalent, confirming good physical and mental health and ability to perform job functions
- Fit mask test required (specific mask types accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella) or signed declinations
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
- Background checks including criminal, sex offender, and state-specific searches within 30 days of start
- Fingerprinting and Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry results required for clinical candidates without an IL license (must be completed in Illinois)
- Education verification and competency exam required
- Photo for badge required before start
- Code of conduct review and signature required
Additional Notes
- First-time travel nurses accepted
- No on-call requirement
- Guaranteed hours subject to client call-offs (up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay)
- Candidates must provide answers to interview availability, housing review, and return-to-office confirmation upon submission
This position is ideal for oncology RNs with at least one year of experience seeking a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet-designated acute care hospital in Illinois.
