Description
Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) - Temp, Long Term Care (Days)
Location: Mound City, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days
Hours per Day: 8
Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and adjust plans of care using standardized assessments and evidence-based practices.
- Assess patient progress and modify treatments accordingly, documenting all regulatory and clinical information in electronic records.
- Evaluate treatment outcomes and make referrals as needed.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
- Prepare comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.
- Accurately record treatment minutes following all regulatory standards.
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings or in-services.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as required.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or Student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics during professional practice.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience (New graduates accepted if Level II experience, not just Level I observation).
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
- Active Missouri State License for Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is required.
- Preferred: 3 years of experience holding active CCS certification.
- Ability to supervise CFY or student clinicians.
Additional Information
- Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists; typical treatment times for SLP are about 30 minutes per session.
- Caseload typically ranges from 10-14 patients per day depending on evaluations.
- Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity.
- Therapists typically have a dedicated device for documentation.
