Description
Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), with variable end times depending on procedure completion
- Caseload: Approximately 20 cases per day, working in teams of 2 CVTs per lab, with 4-5 labs daily
- On-call: Yes; one weekend (Fri-Sun) per month plus one call shift and one evening shift weekly
- Floating: No floating between service lines or sister facilities
- Holidays: As needed
- Local radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals accepted on a case-by-case basis
Required Qualifications
- Cath Lab Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Proficiency in coronary diagnostic and intervention scrub procedures
- Proficiency in coronary diagnostic and intervention monitor procedures
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card
- Employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit to be worked in
- Background check within 90 days including:
- SSN Trace
- County and statewide checks in SC
- National criminal and sex offender registry
- FACIS 3 and international searches if applicable
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Primary source verification of SC license (active, unencumbered, no pending actions)
- Nursys verification if applicable
- Radiation badge ordering process must be initiated prior to start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days
- Drug screen: 10-panel urine drug test within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Annual medical clearance for respirator use (RespSafety clearance)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
- Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
- Hepatitis B: titer, vaccine series, or declination
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Facility-specific forms and modules must be completed prior to start, including confidentiality, contractor forms, and orientation modules (approx. 2 hours)
- Passport-style photo for badge (frontal view, solid light background, no hats/sunglasses)
Work Environment & Facility Information
- Acute care hospital with 304 staffed beds
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrubs: Hospital-issued Cath Lab scrubs
- Parking: Free parking available with facility-issued pass; garage clearance suitable for average SUV/truck
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid new or extended assignments during peak months (Aug-Sept) if this is a concern
Additional Notes
- First-time travelers accepted
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with manager approval
- Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called-off hours can be combined to equal one shift
- All required verifications and documentation must be initiated within 48 hours of contract signing
