Work Schedule

• 4 shifts per week, 10 hours each (7:30 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Coverage includes weekends, holidays, and on-call time
• 40 hours per week

Job Description

• Ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy and appropriate patient outcomes
• Prepare and distribute medications in compliance with federal and state laws
• Provide patient counseling and education on medications and drug therapy outcomes
• Advise medical, nursing, and village staff on drug therapy
• Select and maintain appropriate drug inventory
• Participate in quality improvement and quality control activities
• Use independent professional judgment to evaluate prescriptions for safety and appropriateness
• Communicate with prescribers to clarify or recommend alternative therapies as needed
• Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately
• Enter prescriptions into pharmacy software and verify finished orders timely and accurately
• Perform chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management
• Provide drug information, consultation, and staff education related to drug therapy
• Direct pharmacy support personnel and serve as a role model and educator for pharmacy students and technicians
• Participate in clinical and administrative meetings and committees
• Provide health promotion and disease prevention activities related to drug use

Required Qualifications

• Valid Hospital Pharmacist license in Alaska
• Minimum of 1 year of hospital pharmacist experience within the last year
• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree or Bachelor of Pharmacy degree
• Experience in a clinic setting
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
