Description

Registered Nurse - Operating Room (Travel)

Location: Carlsbad, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM), 4x10 hour shifts
Call Requirements: Minimum 1 weekday call per week, possible weekend rotation
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Circulate surgeries in a 6-operating room unit within a 99-bed facility
  • Approximately 250-300 procedures per month
  • Patient ratio approximately 1:148
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, OR technicians, and other staff to provide patient care in the operating room
  • Responsibilities include ensuring supplies, case timeliness, communication with families, updating physician preference cards, scrubbing and assisting during surgeries, and supervising personnel delivering patient care
  • Must demonstrate critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning and delivering care
  • Adhere to State Nurse Practice Act, AORN standards, regulatory requirements, physician orders, and hospital policies

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Mexico
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications
  • Experience working with both adult and pediatric patients
  • Experience in orthopedics, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN), plastic surgery, endoscopy, urology, and trauma surgeries

  • Call is required as part of the job responsibilities
