Registered Nurse - OR (Operating Room)

Location: Glendale, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 2 months


Job Summary

  • Provide nursing care in the Operating Room setting, assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting patient care according to professional nursing standards and organizational policies.
  • Accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self and those under direction.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge and judgment to assess data and provide care appropriate to patients' physical and developmental needs.

Essential Functions

  • Assess physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs of patients.
  • Review patient history, physical exams, diagnostics, and lab data; report abnormal results to physicians and caregivers.
  • Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide direct patient care, coordinate, delegate, and supervise healthcare team activities.
  • Communicate patient status effectively to ensure continuity of care.
  • Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; adjust plans accordingly.
  • Document all nursing activities and patient responses accurately and timely.
  • Participate in research, shared leadership, education, orientation, precepting, and mentoring as appropriate.
  • Promote excellent patient outcomes through safe, effective, and equitable care.
  • May provide relief charge nurse duties and support department workflow.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Typical direct patient care environment requiring frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and stretching.
  • Must have physical agility, reaction time, hearing, visual acuity (including color vision), fine motor skills, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Ability to assist patients with ambulation and transfers; may lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Use of standard precautions due to exposure risk to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Effective communication skills required (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Periodic use of computer, phone, and office equipment.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Arizona
  • Minimum 2 years of OR Circulate experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Strong orthopedic experience, including Total Joint procedures, Mako robotics, and Hanna table procedures
  • Experience with robotic-assisted General Surgery cases

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional OR or perioperative nursing experience.

Shift Details

  • Primarily Tuesday through Thursday, 0600-1530, with potential for additional weekday shifts up to five days per week.
  • Day shift position in a high-volume, collaborative OR environment supporting a diverse surgical caseload.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No direct reports.
  • Provides peer direction and support to licensed and non-licensed personnel as needed.

Onboarding is somewhat tedious, but they do dot every "i" and cross every T.
