Registered Nurse (IMC) - Travel/Contract
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Position in Intermediate Care (IMC) / Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- 24 staffed beds with an average daily census of 24
- Charting system: Epic
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs, including sister facilities
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Oklahoma
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Progressive Care Unit (PCU), with at least some experience within the last year
- At least 1 year of total travel nursing experience
- Telemetry experience required
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Current ACLS certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Completion of EKG Course and Telemetry Test
Required Documents & Background Checks
- Current and valid Driver’s License or State-issued ID
- Utility bill in candidate’s name with matching address dated within last 3 months; address must be more than 75 miles from contracted facility
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification with transcript/diploma matching highest degree
- OFAC Sanctions List Search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Employment application with 7 years of work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Two references from former direct supervisors (one within 1 year, one within 3 years)
- Work history verification covering 10 years, including international positions and gaps
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by Physician, PA, NP, or APRN confirming good health and no physical limitations
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, Qgold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or clear chest x-ray if prior positive test
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for:
- Rubeola (Measles) – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Mumps – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Rubella – 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella – 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
- Hepatitis B – completed series, positive titer, or declination (declinations require annual renewal)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap – valid within 10 years; Tdap mandatory for certain units (ER, OB/GYN, NICU, etc.)
- Flu vaccine required annually (with medical or religious exemptions accepted; declinations not accepted)
- Hepatitis A required for Pediatric/PICU positions
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, including marijuana (facility receives federal funding; positive marijuana may lead to cancellation)
- COVID vaccination strongly preferred; declinations accepted with agency form
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 30 days of start, updated annually (100% passing score required)
- Color Blind Testing within 60 days prior to start (Ishihara preferred)
- Unit-specific competency exams annually with minimum 80% passing score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year, updated annually (90% passing score required)
- Core Parts I, II, and III competency exams annually (80% passing score required)
- Conscious Sedation competency exam if applicable, updated annually (80% passing score)
- Patient Care Orientation Class (Skills) mandatory for all RNs
- Epic training required if no Epic experience within last 6 months (class scheduled prior to assignment)
- Fit testing for N95 masks completed onsite within 1 year prior to start
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Completion of various policy acknowledgments prior to start, including:
- Health Code of Ethical Business Conduct
- Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy
- Information Access Agreement
- Oklahoma Offender Registration Act
- Oklahoma Responsibilities and Rights (updated every 2 years)
- Fingerprinting and Oklahoma Screen clearance required before start
- Vehicle information form must be completed prior to clearance
- No more than 5 days of Return to Orientation (RTO) allowed
- Local candidates within 75 miles of facility are not accepted
Additional Notes
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
- Floating to sister facilities is required
- Candidates must submit all required documents and certifications before clearance
- Candidates without required travel experience or certifications will not be considered
