Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a 3-room unit serving inpatient, outpatient, and ER patients.
- Patient volume: 13-15 patients per day.
- Hours: Day shift, 4 days a week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM).
- Willing to consider first-time travelers.
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, including experience within the last year.
- Proficient in IV starts.
- Required procedure experience: Cardiac, Bone Scan, Liver/Spleen Scan, Lung Scan, Thyroid Studies, Tumor Localization, Myocardial Imaging.
- Preferred procedure experience: Brain Scan, Renal Flow, SPECT.
- Documentation experience with Cerner.
- Familiarity with Siemens equipment preferred.
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in Indiana.
- ARRT(N) or NMTCB certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or RQI accepted).
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Background check required within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, SSN trace, county/state/national checks, sex offender registry, and FACIS Level III.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification and official transcript/diploma required (may be pending at start).
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years.
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date.
- Fit mask test within 12 months (approved respirators include specific 3M and Honeywell N95 models).
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP).
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted.
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30 - 3/31).
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score required.
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and updated annually.
- Competency exams including unit competency exam required.
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam not required for this tech role.
- Completion of facility-specific compliance and confidentiality forms prior to start.
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport required (clear copy).
