Description

Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Prepare and receive lines from perfusion for cannulation.

  • Work with surgical cases including but not limited to:

    • Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
    • Atherectomy
    • Atrial Septal Defect Repair
    • Cardiomyoplasty
    • Carotid Endarterectomy
    • Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
    • Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
    • Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
    • Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
    • Mitral Valve Replacement
    • Pericardial Window
    • Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
    • Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
    • Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
    • Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
    • Heart & Lung Transplant
    • Valve Replacement
    • Aortic Dissection
  • Call requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule.

  • First-time travelers accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist, including experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients.
  • Ability to receive pump lines from perfusion and prepare them for cannulation.
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)

Important Notes

  • Indiana RNs are restricted from starting new contracts after 9/9/2024 unless working in Perioperative/OR or Allied roles; these exceptions allow working past 11/30/2024.
  • Candidates must provide 2-3 days of interview availability.
  • Facility-specific orientation and compliance forms must be completed as a priority.
  • On-site fit testing is limited and requires prior approval; fit testing must be current within 12 months.
  • Extensive background checks and verifications are required, including 7 years of residence/work history, education verification, and drug screening.
  • Immunization and health document requirements include:
    • Tuberculosis testing within 1 year
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via positive titer or vaccination (no declinations accepted)
    • Varicella immunity (no declinations accepted)
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
    • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
  • References: Minimum of 2 from recent employment with supervisory titles, verified within 2 years.
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required within 12 months of start.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy).
  • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required.
  • Color blindness testing (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score.
  • HIPAA and facility-specific confidentiality agreements must be acknowledged.
  • Orientation safety manual and facility compliance checklists are mandatory.

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a CVOR Tech with a focus on complex surgical services including trauma and vascular cases. The role requires strong technical skills, specific certifications, and the ability to work significant call hours. First-time travelers with trauma experience are welcome. Compliance with extensive health, background, and facility-specific requirements is mandatory.
