Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location

  • New Haven, Connecticut

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Primarily 4x10 hour day shifts (7:30 AM – 8:00 PM)
  • Flexible scheduling options include 2x12s, 2x8s, or 5x8s
  • No weekends or holidays required
  • Call shifts available to pick up
  • Bi-campus coverage between two hospital campuses

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 1 year of Interventional Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
  • Active ARRT (Radiologic Technologist) certification required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Licensure

  • Must hold an active state license appropriate for Radiology Technologist in Connecticut prior to start

Orientation and Onboarding

  • Orientation available every Monday; must start by July 20 at the latest
  • Guaranteed hours during contract

Facility and Work Environment

  • Short Term Acute Care facility
  • Level I Trauma Center
  • Large facility with 1,567 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs provided (Misty Green OR scrubs)
  • Parking fee applies

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start
  • Various federal and state background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG within 30 days of start
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation required for internationally educated candidates
  • Verification of highest level of education required
  • Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps over 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years required
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for new candidates in this specialty
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (clean shaven required)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire required
  • Immunization or titer proof required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
  • Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties (not required here)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not required

Competency and Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months prior to start
  • Color blind testing required for all candidates starting on or after 8/2/2024
  • Various facility-specific training modules and attestations required, including but not limited to:
    • Language Services Training
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
    • Stroke Education (if applicable)
    • CLABSI Prevention Training
    • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Training
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding (if applicable)
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (if applicable)
    • Blood Administration Module (annual update required)
    • New Employee Orientation Module
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for Radiology Techs)
    • Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
  • EPIC testing or training may be required depending on prior experience and unit assignment

Additional Notes

  • Must have photo ID matching legal name on first day
  • RTO (Return to Office) requests over 7 days require approval
  • Locals are not accepted for this position
  • No weekend requirement
  • Floating between campuses within scope of practice is expected
