Job Opportunity: EP Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Shift end times may vary depending on procedure completion
  • No on-call or weekend requirements
  • No floating between service lines or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in South Carolina
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 3 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Electrophysiology Lab experience
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Specialized Skills:
    • Activated Clotting Time (ACT)
    • Cardioversion
    • Circulate Procedures
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Monitoring procedural sedation

Experience & Travel Requirements

  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Prior travel experience is not required

Facility & Work Environment

  • Acute care hospital with 304 staffed beds
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs: Hospital-issued for EP Lab
  • Parking: No fee; parking pass provided at badge pickup; garages available with average SUV clearance
  • Local radius rule: 60 miles
  • Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Annual physical exam within 90 days of start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
  • Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
  • Annual TB questionnaire completion required
  • 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Respirator medical clearance annually via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
  • COVID-19 vaccination is highly preferred but not required; vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31) with documentation uploaded by December 5 deadline

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background check within 90 days of start, including:
    • SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
  • Work history verification of last 3 clinical employers required
  • Proof of 2 clinical references, including at least one from the unit of assignment
  • Employment application must include all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
  • NURSYS verification required for RN license
  • Radiation badge process must be initiated prior to start; badge delivery may take 5-7 days
  • Facility-specific documents to be completed prior to start, including confidentiality agreements, contractor forms, ID badge request, and job description acknowledgment
  • Clear, passport-style photo required for badge issuance

Orientation & Training

  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules (approximately 2 hours) prior to start is mandatory
  • Fit testing for respirators will be conducted onsite during orientation

Additional Notes

  • Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting new or extended assignments
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks; called-off hours can be combined to equal one shift
  • Block scheduling accommodations possible with manager approval
