Description
Occupational Therapist – Acute Care Hospital
Location: Saint Joseph, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (typically 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM)
- Weekend Rotation: One weekend day shift per month
- Start Time: Variable between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM; occasional flex to 9:00–9:30 AM depending on surgery schedule
- Patient Ratio Experience: 1:7-9 patients
- Electronic Health Record: EPIC experience preferred
- Scrubs: Must be solid color (no prints), approved colors limited to 10 options
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Occupational Therapy experience within the last year
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

- National Criminal Check
- State and County Searches (10 years of all addresses and aliases)
- SSN Trace with aliases
- National Sex Offender Registry
- FACIS Level 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Education Verification: Official transcript or diploma with graduation date required
- State-Specific Search: Missouri EDL Search within 30 days of start
- License Verification: Primary source verification within 30 days of start
- Professional References: Two professional references within 3 years of start
- Employment Application and Work History Verification: Required
- Skills Checklist: Required
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical Exam: Physician statement within the last 12 months (not required annually)
- Fit Mask Testing: Completed onsite at orientation
- TB Screening: Negative PPD, Q-Gold, or T-SPOT within 1 year; if positive, chest x-ray within 6 months and annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations:
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted)
- Hepatitis B (proof of vaccination series, titer, or declination accepted)
- Varicella (2 vaccines, positive titer, or declination accepted)
- Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season or approved medical/religious exemption with mask mandate
- Drug Screening: Required within 30 days of start; must include a comprehensive panel of substances
Testing & Competency Exams
- Basic Dysrhythmia Exam: Required for all acute hospital RNs and LPNs (not applicable to OT)
- Medication/Pharmacology Competency: Required as applicable by profession
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required annually
- Pass/Fail Testing: Basic dysrhythmia exam and EKG testing required for nursing specialties only (not OT)
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Confidentiality Agreement and Code of Conduct: Must be reviewed and signed prior to start
- Demographic Form: Must be completed prior to start
- Agency Nurse Orientation Quiz: Must be completed with a passing score of 84% or higher prior to start
- Scrub Policy: Solid color scrubs only, no prints
Additional Notes
- No on-call duties
- Flexibility in start time may be required based on surgical schedules
- Onsite training and competency validation may be required if contract is extended
