Shift & Hours

• Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday
• 40 hours per week
• Call on a weekly basis as determined by vascular surgeons (callback)
• Weekend rotation is rare

Unit Details

• Average daily census: 23 patients
• Patient population: Adolescents to geriatrics
• Staffing ratios: 1:3 on weekdays, 1:1 on weekends
• Unit uses Medstreaming system
• Schedule type: Block
• Scrubs color: Green (not provided)

Specialty & Procedures

• Radiology / Cardiology focus with vascular ultrasound specialty
• Experience with:

  • Aorta imaging
  • Arterial graft studies
  • Arterial mapping
  • Carotid studies
  • Color flow and Doppler studies
  • Duplex scanning
  • Lower extremity arterial and venous studies
  • Renal artery duplex
  • Upper extremity arterial and venous studies
• Special procedures include carotid endarterectomy in the OR
• Equipment used: Philips Epiq Elite x4, Viasonix Falcon Pro x2
• Work environment requires adaptability to fluid changes

Required Qualifications

• Valid Vascular Sonographer license in North Carolina
• Minimum 5 years of vascular sonographer experience, including experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Certifications required:

  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography)
  • RVT (Registered Vascular Technologist)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Government-issued photo ID must be carried during work hours
• Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
• Background checks covering 7 years of residence/employment history, including:

  • Social Security trace
  • County, state, federal, and nationwide checks
  • Sex offender registry
  • FACIS Level 3
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
• Education verification as requested
• Physical exam within last 12 months (not required annually)
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start and annually thereafter (specific mask types required)
• Immunizations and titers required or documentation of immunity for:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Varicella (chickenpox)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates; TB questionnaire if history of positive test
• 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start
• Seasonal flu vaccine or documented exemption required during flu season (September 16 – April 1)
• COVID-19 vaccination status requested but not required

References & History

• Two professional references within 12 months required; at least one from a supervisor or charge nurse
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the facility for over 1 year
• Complete employment application/resume required
• Skills checklist must be current and updated annually
