Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Big Spring, Texas

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position requires circulating experience in the Operating Room (OR).
- Typical schedule is 5x8 hour shifts with rotating call coverage between two RNs on a biweekly rotation (Mon, Tues, Fri-Sun one week; Wed-Thurs the next). Call is for general surgery and emergency C-sections only.
- Alternative shift options considered: 4x10 hour shifts or 3x12 hour shifts.
- Traveler must report to a designated facility in San Angelo for orientation on the first day, then continue the contract at the Big Spring location.
- Start date expected within 3-5 weeks from offer.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Prior travel nursing experience.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License/State ID) with consistent legal name across all documents.
- Social Security Card with matching legal name.
- Background check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, including statewide, federal, national, education verification, and international search if applicable.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Education verification and diploma submission as needed.
- State license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start.
- Facility-specific forms to be completed prior to start, including health record, code of conduct, confidentiality, residency declaration, and orientation acknowledgments.
- Passport-style photo for badge.
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start; must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Fit mask test within 6 months prior to start; annual updates required. Accepted masks: 3M 1860 and 3M 1860S.
- Immunizations and titers required within 72 hours of contract signing:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (including QGold, TSpot, or 2 PPDs within 1 year)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: positive titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed series; declination form accepted with conditions
- Varicella: positive titer, 2 vaccines, or proof of disease; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal
- Drug testing required within 30 days of start; must include a panel covering amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoid, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine, methadone, and propoxyphene.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31).
- Initial COVID-19 vaccination series required; boosters not required.
Additional Information
- Pass/fail testing on EKG, medication administration, restraint, and glucometer during orientation; remediation offered same day if needed.
- Two professional references required within 3 years of start.
- Copy of resume or employment application required.
- Annual updates required for skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment.
Shift Details
- Day shift, typically 4x10 hours (6:30 AM to 5:00 PM), totaling 40 hours per week.
- Call rotation as described above.
This position is ideal for experienced OR RNs with prior travel nursing experience seeking a contract in Texas with a reputable facility.
