Job Opportunity: Stepdown Cardiac Registered Nurse

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Assignment in a Stepdown (SD) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with targeted patient ratios of 1:5-6.
  • ICU experience does not count toward SD/PCU experience requirement. Must have documented SD/PCU experience at a 1:5 ratio in work history to be considered.
  • Typical patients include heart failure, chest pain rule out, NSTEMI, post-procedure patients, COPD exacerbation, drug/alcohol overdose and withdrawal.
  • Competency in running IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, insulin, etc., is required.
  • Nurses will be fitted for N95 masks prior to working on the unit unless PAPR is offered/needed.
  • Floating may be required at the employer’s discretion, including to nearby campuses within 10-15 miles.
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
  • Employer reserves the right to cancel up to 2 shifts due to low census during the contract and may cancel the agreement with 2 weeks’ notice without penalty.
  • Scrubs: Navy Blue.

Shift Details

  • Day shift, 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Total hours per week: 48

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio.
  • Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
