Description
Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Salina, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Job Description
- Must have experience with Meditech EMR (no exceptions)
- Work settings include antepartum, facility births (<100 and 100-200 births), high-risk antepartum, labor & delivery, and mother-baby units
- Labor & Delivery management including high-risk deliveries, forceps/vacuum, C-sections, neonatal care, newborn care, postpartum care, and surgical cases
- Skills required:
- Assist with sterile speculum exam, NST (Non-Stress Test), OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Test), reflex checks, sterile vaginal exam, telemetry interpretation
- Use of internal/external fetal monitoring, IVs, medication administration
- Preferred skills: LDRP, assist with amniocentesis, spiral electrode placement, use of IUPC (Intrauterine Pressure Catheter)
- Unit scrub provided
- Facility enforces a 100-mile radius rule for mileage approval on a case-by-case basis
- First-time travelers will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
- Prior employees of this facility will not be considered
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas
- Minimum 1.5 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Experience with Meditech EMR system
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Skills in NST (Non-Stress Test) and OCT (Oxytocin Challenge Test)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation required
- Background checks:
- 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, and FACIS Level III screening (must be completed within 30 days of start)
- Education verification or proof of highest degree earned required
- Nursys verification required for RN license
- Physical exam within the last 12 months signed by MD, DO, PA, or ARNP confirming ability to perform essential job functions
- N95 Fit Mask test within 12 months of start (can be completed onsite during orientation if needed)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (or documentation if previously positive)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella: positive titer within 10 years or completed 2-dose MMR vaccine series (boosters required if non-immune)
- Hepatitis B: positive titer, completed 3-dose series, or declination form
- Varicella: positive titer or completed 2-dose vaccine series
- Current Tdap vaccine within last 10 years required for staff working in Birth Center/NICU (recommended for others)
- Drug testing:
- 10-panel drug screen including marijuana within 60 days of start (SAMHSA certified, reviewed by MRO; instant tests not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31); if declined, mask must be worn at all times
- COVID-19 vaccine or declination accepted; medical and religious exemptions not required but declination form must be completed if not vaccinated
Additional Requirements
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
- Skills checklist must be updated annually for applicable units
- Completion of facility-specific Healthstream modules (approximately 8 hours) required prior to start
- Photo for badge required
Notes
- This is a travel/contract position with a fixed 13-week duration
- Night shift with 36 hours per week (3 shifts of 12 hours)
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required; first-time travelers will be considered case-by-case
