Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: PET Technologist
- Shift: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day
- Shift times vary between 6:30 AM - 10:00 AM start and 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM end
- No holiday shifts required
- Weekend work: PET/CT scans may be performed on Saturdays if needed (e.g., equipment downtime or backlog)
- No floating between service lines or sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid Nuclear Medicine Technologist license in South Carolina
- Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NMTCB(N) or ARRT(N) certification
- NMTCB(CT) or ARRT(R) or ARRT(CT) certification
Important Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Copy of Driver’s License/State ID and Social Security Card required
- Completed and accurate I-9 form and work eligibility attestation required
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years, including multiple specific searches (SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international if applicable)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification required; diploma or transcripts may be accepted as placeholders if verification is pending
- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
- Complete employment application/resume including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Verification of last 3 clinical employers required (attestation letters accepted only if all other verification methods exhausted)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting ability to meet physical demands of the position
- Fit test for N95 mask (O&M Halyard FLUIDSHIELD or 3M Aura 1870+) within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form required
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or proof of prior positive with chest x-ray
- Annual TB questionnaire completion required
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity (positive titer or vaccines) for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (August 1 - March 31) with documentation uploaded prior to deadline
- COVID vaccination highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
Facility Specific Requirements
- Radiation badge required for all Radiology/Cardiology travelers in this role; nuclear medicine techs require both body and ring badges
- Radiation badge process may take 5-7 days; candidates cannot start patient care without badge
- Passport-style badge photo required prior to start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire, no hats or sunglasses)
- Completion of orientation modules and first day instructions mandatory before starting; modules take approximately 2 hours and must be completed on a computer (not mobile)
- During hurricane season (June-November), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams; candidates should consider this before accepting or extending assignments
Additional Notes
- Locals within 60 miles may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Facility uses Epic for charting
- Scrub color: teal tops and black pants
- Parking fee applies only for nights and weekends with a one-time $20 parking pass payment
This position offers an opportunity to work in a teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 trauma designation, supporting advanced PET/CT imaging services.
