Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Camden, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Day (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Must be willing to float within 5 hospitals within skillset.
- Block scheduling is not allowed.
- Required to pass a Dysrhythmia test within 72 hours of signing the contract (only 2 attempts allowed; must be taken on a PC, not iOS devices). Failure to pass results in contract cancellation and denial of rehire.
- Scrubs are provided by the hospital.
- Expected to maintain a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio; may be assigned to higher volume facilities.
- One winter holiday and one summer holiday shift required.
- First-time travelers accepted but not preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey.
- Minimum 1 year of Labor and Delivery nursing experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Certifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Experience maintaining a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio in Labor and Delivery.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
- Proof of E-Verify or attestation.
- Background checks including:
- 7-year criminal history check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- Education verification (diploma or transcript acceptable).
- NURSYS verification for RN license.
- Physical exam within the last 12 months.
- Fit mask test completed at designated Occupational Health within the first week of assignment (no outside fit tests accepted).
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 1 year of start; if positive, chest X-ray and annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer or declination accepted)
- Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen without THC panel within 6 months of start (updated annually).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required by October 31 prior to flu season.
- Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better).
- Latex questionnaire.
- Two professional references within the last 2 years.
- Employment application and updated skills checklist (annually).
- Work history verification for at least 1 year prior to start date (New Jersey candidates).
Additional Notes
- Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams required as applicable.
- Color blind testing within 1 year of start.
- Dysrhythmia test required for this role and must be passed within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Candidates must be prepared to float among multiple hospital locations within the system.
- No local rate pay available.
This position requires strong clinical skills in Labor and Delivery nursing, flexibility to work across multiple hospital sites, and compliance with extensive credentialing and health requirements.
