Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Chemo Certified) - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night shift, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Facility Type: Acute Care, Teaching Hospital, Level 3 Trauma
Charting System: Epic (Excellian)


Job Details

  • Specialty: Oncology Registered Nurse with Chemotherapy certification
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • First-time travel nurses accepted
  • Weekend Requirement: Work every 3rd weekend
  • Floating: May float within scope as needed
  • Locals: Not accepted within 100-mile radius
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • On-call: Not required
  • Block scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Parking: Night shift parking is free in the ramp; day/evening shifts have paid options

Required Certifications and Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Minnesota
  • Hematology / Oncology experience with a minimum of 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Chemotherapy Certification (ONS or ONCC)
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing

Required Licenses & Verification

  • Background checks including criminal background (7-year MN statewide search), EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG within 1 year of start
  • MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required prior to start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap (no declinations accepted without approved exemption)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframe
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • Drug testing: 9-panel within 1 year, not required for client clearance but must be current

Onboarding & Compliance

  • Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules within 72 hours of receiving access (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
  • Passport-style photo for badge required within 48 hours of contract signing
  • MN DHS Net Study Questionnaire must be completed immediately after contract signing to initiate fingerprinting
  • Respiratory safety clearance (RespSafety virtual questionnaire) required prior to start
  • Skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams required annually

Additional Notes

  • The position requires working every third weekend and floating as needed within the scope of practice.
  • Candidates must be able to comply with all immunization and health screening requirements without exception unless a documented and approved exemption is provided.
  • The facility is latex-free; candidates with latex allergy should be aware.
  • Parking arrangements vary by shift; night shift parking is free in the ramp.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete fingerprinting within Minnesota or travel to a location offering livescan fingerprinting prior to assignment start.

This role is ideal for an experienced Oncology RN with chemotherapy certification seeking a travel contract in a teaching hospital environment with a Level 3 trauma designation.
